Main Beach got its "imaginative" name from being the main surf beach for the town of Southport. Main Beach's famous Tedder Avenue has a reputation for excellent food and coffee casusing many of the upmarket restaurants and cafes to be frequented by affluent locals and visitors.
Sea World, a 25-hectare marine park is situated here providing entertaining and educational shows as well as a combination of thrilling rides and other attractions. The Marina Mirage shopping complex, Mariners' Cove and upmarket resorts such as Palazzo Versace and the Sheraton Mirage also call the Main Beach area home. Marina Mirage hosts The Farmers' Markets on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the Month from 7am to 12 noon.
For those who enjoy a good walk, the Federation Walk stretches from The Spit in the north past the Main Beach Bathing Pavilion all the way through to Surfers Paradise. For nature lovers, the Federation Walk is a worthwhile experience meandering its way through areas that are undergoing regeneration as a littoral rainforest.
